![]() ![]() Our QOV news and quilts can be seen in our Newsletter every month. In 2022 YTD QGbtS delivered 109 Quilts of Valor a total of 60 were made during the year. Quilts of Valor Quilting Daily Quilts of Valor Quilting Company Team 4 In certain issues of Love of Quilting, we include quilt patterns that meets the guidelines established by the Quilts of Valor Foundation. Even some service dogs received matching quilts this year. Our QOV program has earned a statewide reputation for the numbers of quilts as well as the quality of the quilts presented. These quilts are presented to veterans in a special ceremony in which our quilters “wrap” the veterans with the quilts. These quilts are made to the specifications requested by the national QOV organization. Our QOV committee communicates with the staff at the VA in South Florida to arrange the distribution of the quilts. Workshops are held monthly to encourage members of all abilities to assist in the piecing of a Quilt of Valor quilt top and pillowcase. The quilts are presented to all military service members regardless of conflict, declared war or otherwise, in which they served. The group relies on private donations for the fabric and batting used in each quilt, and the members donate their time to make each one unique and personal. ![]() More than 275 local service members and veterans have been awarded Quilts of Valor by the Patriotic Piecers since the group was formed in the fall of 2013. The mission is being carried out locally by our Patriotic Piecers, a small group of about 20 volunteers who meet at the American Legion Post 143 in Post Falls the third Monday of each month. These Quilts of Valor, or QOVs, are made to specific specifications, recorded, and awarded by the Quilts of Valor Foundation. Their mission is to “cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.” These quilts are tokens of appreciation that unequivocally say, “Thank you for your service, sacrifice, and valor.” The foundation has presented over 211,000 quilts to veterans and service members in all 50 states. She was inspired by her son's deployment to Iraq and her desire to see that returning troops were welcomed home with love and gratitude.
